1. Your GEZFLC assessment forms
The dashboard uses the current GEZFLC Child Development & Learning Assessment Binder: Infant, Young Toddler, Older Toddler, Preschool, and VPK. The original fall items remain unchanged. Winter keeps those items and adds more. Spring keeps the earlier items and adds the spring tasks.
2. Record a dated observation
Open a student, choose Fall, Winter, or Spring, and select Edit checkpoint. Choose the age-appropriate form, enter the actual date and teacher, and rate each observed item. M = Mastered, D = Developing, E = Emerging, and NO = Not Observed. Blank means unrated. A checklist is fully recorded once every item has a rating and the date and form are entered; NO does not imply mastery.
3. Compare the same items
Growth counts only matching items with M, D, or E recorded at both dates. Moving from E to D or M, or D to M, counts as advanced. New seasonal items, NO, blank ratings, and different age forms do not generate a growth score. An emerging rating on a new, harder task is not treated as a decline from an earlier mastered task. The dashboard does not invent numeric cutoffs or readiness benchmarks for your in-house forms.
4. Keep STAR testing separate
VPK children have both an in-house checklist and STAR VPK testing for PM1, PM2, and PM3. Switch between the two tools in the student review, or open STAR VPK testing in the navigation. STAR scores, dates, scales, and report labels stay separate from the teacher observation ratings. STAR point growth requires matching scales.
5. Your roster and saved work
The staff workspace uses shared server storage. Open a student to see the imported information. Sample data stays in a separate temporary workspace. A saved assessment is available to other approved staff when they reload the latest records. Real records are not saved in browser storage. Export a JSON backup through Manage data to keep a separate copy. Existing STAR scores are preserved in the separate STAR record. Any historical entries from a retired tool are retained in the JSON backup and are not converted into in-house ratings.
These are your center-created observations. The separate academic-skills and behavior/engagement tracker sections remain excluded. Use the binder’s tasks by age and readiness and record adult support in the summary.
